Bring It Back: The Retrospective Screening

Panel | Queer | Special Events |

Please note this session is free but booking is required.

From much loved classics, such as Desert Hearts, to films whose queerness has grown with age, such as The Sound of Music, retrospective screenings are a staple part of any festival program.

Join host Stuart Richards, author of The Queer Film Festival, Popcorn and Politics along with an array of film scholars and critics from across the globe including, multi-award winning filmmaker Liz Baulch, film critic & festival director Cerise Howard, media studies scholar Skadi Loist and film festival programmer Kirsten Stevens as they discuss just what makes a queer film queer and what role do retrospectives play in the queer film festival?

Check out our Bring It Back screenings of Desert Hearts (1986) and Prick Up Your Ears (1987) at this year’s MQFF!

Proudly Presented by Deakin University
