We have lots of roles to suit all experience levels…

Role Description
Front of House Volunteers Are you a people person? Do you like to chat while you are assisting others? If you’re  keen to be the first person our patrons see when they arrive for a session, then this is the position for you! Our Front of House Volunteers are responsible for welcoming patrons, scanning tickets, directing patrons to seats and promoting our exclusive memberships. FOHVO’s are knowledgeable about the MQFF program, they’re happy to talk about films. Most of all, they are there to have fun and make sure the Festival experience is fun for others. 

You should apply if: you are a friendly person with great customer service skills and you’re passionate about film and community and making new friends. 

Estimated commitment: Shifts are generally between 4-6 hours + 30 minute break

Volunteer Co-ordinators Are you looking to exercise your team leadership skills? Are you a natural problem solver? This might be just the position for you! While on shift, our Volunteer Co-ordinators are the central, on-location liaison for MQFF and our partner Cinema Staff and are responsible for coordinating the volunteers on shift.  

You should apply if: you are responsible, organised and an excellent communicator. You may have Front of House leadership experience and/or aspirations, and you enjoy having a bit more responsibility. 

Estimated commitment: Shifts are generally between 4-6 hours + 30 minute break 

Event Volunteers Want to assist in planning and coordinating one of our events? If so, our Event Volunteers are responsible for assisting with décor and room setup and bump out, catering supervision and supporting  MQFF’s Festival Coordinator in the delivery of inclusive and celebratory events MQFF events.  

You should apply if: you are someone looking to further their events management experience, if you’re great at carrying out instructions, and if you’re handy with assembling items and packing up.  

Estimated commitment: Shifts are generally between 4-6 hours + 30 minute break 

Photographers and Videographers Are you great with a camera? MQFF is looking for some talented and enthusiastic photographers and videographers who will be responsible for covering special events for the festival such as Program Launch, Opening and Closing Nights, and any related events including panels, workshops, and the like, for the purpose of creating assets and content for MQFF to use across marketing channels. 

You should apply if: you are an experienced or emerging photographers and videographers. Send us your folio! 

Estimated commitment: 8-12 hours a week during festival times, plus 1-2 hours a fortnight leading up to the festival

Video Editors MQFF is looking for volunteers who are handy with Video Editing packages to assist with editing and preparing compelling video content for our social media channels. Working directly with MQFF’s Marketing Team, our video editors possess the technical and creative tools and abilities to translate footage into cut-through stories for our engaged audiences. 

You should apply if: you have the skills, tools and experience to create compelling finished video content. 

Estimated commitment: 2-4 hours a week. Ideally, we are looking for people who can work regular with our team for 6 months or more.

MQFF Mavens Do you love posting and sharing content about your favourite MQFF films all over your social media? If so, MQFF wants your help to share our content, or creating your own to influence your networks and promote key films, panels, events and activations during the Festival.  Mavens may be asked for general support to help promote our festival, donation drives, distributing flyers, commenting on posts, watching and reviewing films ahead of the general audience, and creating buzz, especially in the weeks leading up to the festival, and throughout the festival itself. 

You should apply if: you are a superfan of films and MQFF and you have a well-established social network and follower base. Share your profiles with us and tell us how you’d like to contribute.  

Estimated commitment: 1-2 hours a week. 

Online Community Moderator Do you like motivating and engaging your friends on social media? This might be just the position for you! Online community moderators will work directly with our Community Engagement Manager and our Social Media Manager to engage and motivate our volunteers on our Facebook Group thorought the year. You’ll moderate and encouraging online conversations. 

You should apply if: you’re a fair and balanced person who loves social media and has many fun ideas to engage with others.  

Estimated commitment: 1-2 hours a week. We are looking for people who can commit for 6 months or more. 

Content Marketing Specialists Do you like coming up with fun, creative content ideas? MQFF is looking for  volunteer Content Marketing Specialist who will be responsible for supporting the creation of EDMs, writing and blogging, curating content, developing social media posts across Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and LinkedIn. 

You should apply if:  you have some Marketing and Social Media experience and you are looking to put some of this into action. 

Estimated commitment: 3-5 hours a week. We are looking for people who can commit for 6 months or more.
