The MQFF volunteer program provides an opportunity to gain on-the-ground experience at the festival. Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, give back to the LGBTIQ+ community, and support queer film. Each year there are a range of opportunities for volunteers such as assisting with the day-to-day operations of the festival, helping behind the scenes in the MQFF office, and supporting the festival online through digital media.
We are always keen to learn about the skills and unique perspectives of our volunteers, and what they have to bring to MQFF. If you feel like you have something different to offer, definitely let us know.
MQFF Volunteer Co-ordinators, or VC’s for short, are responsible for assisting with front of house management and co-ordinate groups of enthusiastic volunteers. Our VC’s are knowledgeable about the MQFF program and day-to-day running of the festival. They assist patrons with information about film sessions and assist festival staff in other roles as required at cinema venues.
This is a voluntary position, ideal for someone who is dedicated to helping out at MQFF or looking to further their front of house supervising experience in a festival setting.
