PHYSICAL ACCESSIBILITY

 

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS

All MQFF venues are fully wheelchair accessible, including accessible toilets. We offer an easy booking process for wheelchair spaces through our ticketing system, which features interactive maps. Companion seats are available and can be reserved in conjunction with wheelchair spaces. You can book your own wheelchair space using the interactive seating map online.

For information regarding hearing loops, please contact MQFF directly regarding the sessions you would like to attend.

 


COMPANION CARDS

MQFF proudly supports and accepts Companion Cards, making it easier for individuals to book companion seats. Detailed instructions for booking these seats are provided on our website. To book a Companion Card ticket, please book an accessible seat to the cinema session and then email info@mqff.com.au to request a companion seat.

 


VENUE GUIDES

Detailed venue guides are available, offering visual cues and clear directions for navigating venues. These guides also highlight accessible entrances and exits. We provide comprehensive information on public transport options, including tram stops and train stations, as well as accessible parking bays located close to our venues.

MQFF+ Online Streaming

For those who prefer to enjoy the festival from home, MQFF+ offers a curated selection of films from the 2024 festival program, including feature films, documentaries, and short film packages that can be accessed online at any time.

 


 

COMMUNICATION ACCESSIBILITY

OPEN CAPTIONS

A selection of films will be screened with Open Captions, with at least one captioned screening available daily across all venues. Open Captioned sessions will be clearly marked with the Open Captions symbol in both our online and printed materials.

Many MQFF films feature subtitles or are non-verbal, making them accessible to a wide range of audiences, including those who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

SENSORY-FRIENDLY SCREENINGS

MQFF will offer sensory-friendly film screenings with lower sound levels, softer lighting, and an introduction to the film. These sessions are designed to create a more relaxed and comfortable viewing environment.

QUIET SPACE

A dedicated quiet or quieter space will be available during sensory-friendly sessions for those who need a break. Audience members can return to the screening at any time.

 

FLEXIBLE ENVIRONMENT

Sensory-friendly sessions are designed to be a relaxed environment, where social expectations are adjusted to allow for movement and other accommodations as needed.

 

SUPPORT STAFF

MQFF staff and volunteers will be present to help attendees, guide them to quiet spaces, and provide any other support needed.
